A Twilight Romance

A summery twilight spills sharp sunlight on my new neighbor’s trees – the green hues popping vividly against the blue sky behind. Inside, I type on a make-shift computer desk of two coffee tables and a bookshelf. Preschooler fights bedtime behind me, and the teens are off to camp. Caramel-, mocha- and chocolate milk-colored paint chips march along the wall behind my couch, waiting for inspiration. Jazzy vocals from Pandora get my shoulders bouncing and jivin’. Partially-unpacked boxes stack in corners, and newly-found Legos mound in a corner.

The beauty of fluttering leaves and sun-dripped trees never ceases to captivate me. Am I too easy to please? Creator God, your art amazes me. “You steal my heart and you take my breath away… How could I stand here and not be moved by you?”

Take a second to watch the video clip below of a drama done by our senior high mime team a few years ago to Lifehouse’s “Everything” song that I quoted above. You are being romanced, friend…

Share this with friends and family.

…You calm the storms and you give me rest
You hold me in your hands
You won't let me fall
You steal my heart and you take my breath away
Would you take me in, take me deeper now
And how can I stand here with you and not be moved by you
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this
Cause you're all I want, you're all I need
You're everything, everything
You're all I want
You're all I need
You're everything, everything
You're all I want
You're all I need
You're everything, everything
You're all I want
You're all I need
Everything, everything

And how can I stand here with you and not be moved by you
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this…

Hey Jennifer, are you sure those paint chips aren't just tan, camel and fawn? 8-)

Your view and the luscious grounds, where God's foliage thrive.

You got a blessing of a community in your home, Jen.

That's a beauty to sing for everyday in Praise of Him, as you are doing now.

Blessings and may grace flow from above in your home and spill over to your neighborhood.

Thanks for the clips.

Cabinart/Jana,

As I was typing the sumptuous colors, I thought of your food comments and grinned-- just for you! :)

Jen, I love the "Everything" skit--your teens did a great job with it! Shonna and friends did it at our church too, and on mission trip to Guatemala. It was always hard for me to watch, esp. when she put the gun to her head! But it's so powerful. She got a lot of bruises doing it!
I love your yard. I often just sit on our deck and look at the trees, birds, and squirrels. I find it so amazing that God created such beautiful things for our enjoyment. While going through chemo I'm pretty sure He sent even more birds than usual to our feeders, and they always reminded me He was there, watching over me.
God bless you and your family!

Tina,

Hello, how fun to hear from you! :)

Yes, that is such a powerful skit. I didn't know Shonna used it as well. yes, that role does get a lot of bruises. Our actor finally chose to wear knee guards under her sweatpants. Such a powerful video.

Yards, trees, and bird calls are serene oases for me too, friend. I bet he did send more birds your way then. He is a tender, thoughtful God! :) How are you feeling now?

I love the title and the analogy to God's Romance! There is so much romance in the beauty of all He has created, and those moments when we simply breathe in the leaves shimmering in the light and breeze always speak that to me too. Thanks for this uplifting post!

Hi Pam,

Ahhh, someone else who likes to soak in the beauty of trees, leaves, and God's world. Yes, it sinks deep into my spirit, that. :) Thanks for stopping by, and seeing His beauty too.

How are you? How is your week going?
