Sneezes chase her into the house, the garage door shutting
softer than her achoos. Sleepover
energy-drains and allergies have left her red-eyed and dragging. She slinks
away to her pink room, with my suggestion for a nap trailing after her.
A weekend of painting, plumbing, and home repairs has left
our home shining and our bodies sapped, but we are thankful. Thankful for
parents who spend several vacation days with us to brush, roll, weed, wipe,
re-screen, shelve, and repair. Thankful to him...
Linking with Ann today, I count His gifts:
-the sunflower seedlings and butterflied-morning-glory
plants who escaped the ravenous rabbit
-a cool home on 99 degree days
-chocolate paint spread by mother and daughter-in-law while
laughing and grinning
-family men sweating and assembling white metal shelving
together, penciling lines, and watching yellow bubbles bob balance
-preschool kisses in Perry the Platypus-inspired dashes
-neighbor visits and the aroma of deliciously simmering
Vietnamese cooking wafting by
-plunging hands in dirt to move and transplant an indoor older
than my children
-phone calls from camp from my life-guarding son. “I found a
hognose snake, Mom! They’re rare. Can we keep him?”
-the book of Amos opening wide, and the Author’s promise elsewhere to “open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.”
Hello! What have your last three days been like?

The gift of home repairs is a wonderful gift! It's so nice to see the finished product and to know your hands helped do it all. Enjoyed visiting and reading your list today. Blessings to you!
Love your list, Jennifer! Blessings.
I am oh so thankful for a cool home on these hot days we are having, too! Also rejoicing because Kristin and Shawn are enjoying a wonderful week in New York City -- a very-much needed break and gift from God.
Hi Miss Jennifer! My last few days have been all a mixture of God's grace! Monday and Tuesday were full of more awareness and learning, and a little crying ;) Wednesday and today have been filled with gratitude, family, and more clarity! God is so good to us! Thank you for sharing pieces of your life with us... you're a blessing to me. ~ Blessings, Amy
My last three days have involved camping in God's glorious beauty. We drove to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, a less visited site because it is three hours north of the South Rim. However, it is incredibly beautiful and beautifully cool (high in the 80's, lows in the 50's). Pictures will be coming soon.
It is so wonderful to get help with jobs. We spent so much time and energy getting our old house ready to sell that we have had little desire to re-decorate, especially since the previous owners did just a great job of decorating. I am very thankful for that.
Bless you, Jen, as you continue to find gems out of things and celebrate them... along with the new wishes on your list to fill, and in time, God will.
Hugs... and blessings to you on starting anew in your neighborhood.
Hi Christina,
Yes, having my inlaws help with homerepairs was wonderful! Sorry for the delay in my reply.
